Base legal
Crear y mantener tu cuenta, iniciar sesión, verificar tu correo o teléfono y comprobar tu edad.
Funciones sociales: compartir sitios, comentar, seguir, guardar y publicar itinerarios.
Responder a tus consultas y atender tus derechos.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
YOKA helps you plan group trips and discover places recommended by other travelers. To do that, we need to process some of your personal data. This policy explains what data we process, why, and what you can do about it, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).
1. Who is responsible for your data
Controller: Cristina Barriopedro Amoraga, owner of YOKA Address: Calle Castillo de Ponferrada, 17, 28691 Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid), Spain Contact email:goyokatravel@gmail.com Website: goyokatravel.com
YOKA does not currently have a Data Protection Officer, as it is not legally required to. For any privacy question, please email us at the address above.
2. What data we process
Data you give us
Account: email address, name, username, phone number (if you sign in with it) and password (stored encrypted by Firebase; we never see it).
Date of birth: we ask for it when you create your account to check that you meet the minimum age. It is never shown to other users.
Profile: photo, bio, city, country, language, travel interests and countries you have visited.
Trips: destinations, dates, legs, group members, itinerary plans (including any transport details you add, such as a flight number), accommodation (name, address, dates, price), expenses (amount, category, who paid and how it is split), your personal budget, journal, to-do list and photos.
Social content: places you share, photos, ratings, comments, likes, saved places, folders, itineraries you publish and people you follow.
Reports and blocks: what you report, the reason, and who you block.
Communications: anything you send us by email, including through the website contact form (which opens your own email app).
Android list: if you sign up at goyokatravel.com/android, your email and, if you choose to share them, your name and what you tell us about how you travel.
Data generated when you use the app
Location: only if you allow it, and only while you are using the app (to detect where you are when adding a place, center the map or give you directions). We do not collect your location in the background or keep a history of where you have been.
Usage and device data: screens you visit, actions in the app (for example, creating a trip), device model, operating system, language and technical app identifiers. We use them to improve YOKA, never to show you ads.
Copy on your phone: the app stores on your own device a copy of your current trip (today's plans and hotel) so you can see it offline. It never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
IP address: received, for technical reasons, by the services that load maps and photos.
Data we receive from other services
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address and, if available, your profile photo. With Apple you can choose to hide your email address.
We do not process special categories of data (health, beliefs, religion, etc.), we do not sell your data and, for now, YOKA shows no ads and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
3. Why we use your data, and on what legal basis
Purpose
Legal basis
Creating and maintaining your account, signing you in, verifying your email or phone and checking your age.
Performance of the contract (YOKA's Terms of Use) and legal obligation.
Letting you plan trips with your group: itinerary, accommodation, expenses, journal, photos and ideas.
Performance of the contract.
Social features: sharing places, commenting, following, saving and publishing itineraries.
Performance of the contract.
Using your location, camera and photos.
Your consent, given through your phone's permission prompt, which you can withdraw in its settings.
Moderating content: reviewing reports, applying blocks and removing anything that breaks the community guidelines.
Legitimate interest in keeping the community safe, and compliance with legal obligations.
Measuring app usage statistically and fixing bugs.
Legitimate interest in making YOKA work well. You can object by emailing us.
Answering your questions and handling your rights requests.
Performance of the contract and legal obligation.
Letting you know when you can try YOKA on Android, if you joined the list.
Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.
Keeping data when required by law or to defend ourselves against claims.
Legal obligation and legitimate interest.
We do not make automated decisions with legal effects on you, nor do we build profiles for that purpose. Place and traveler suggestions are based on what you have told us (interests, countries, destinations and trips).
4. What other people can see
Any YOKA user can see your name, username, photo, bio, visited countries, the places you share, your comments, your ratings and the itineraries you publish.
Only the members of each trip can see its plans, accommodation, expenses, journal and photos.
Your date of birth and your personal budget are never shown to anyone else.
People you block can no longer see your profile or your content.
If you share something outside YOKA (for example, a card on Instagram Stories), that service's own policy applies.
5. Who we share it with
Only with the providers we need to run YOKA. They process your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement:
Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd.): sign-in, email or phone verification, server functions and usage analytics.
Supabase (Supabase Inc.): database and photo storage.
Resend: sending verification and password-reset emails.
Stadia Maps and OpenStreetMap: maps and address search. They receive your IP address and the map area you are viewing.
Unsplash: reference photos of places. It receives no data about you beyond technical connection data.
Apple and Google: only if you choose to sign in with them.
When you tap "Directions", Google Maps or Apple Maps opens, and when you tap a booking link, that provider's website opens (for example, Booking.com or Civitatis). From that moment on, their own privacy policy applies.
We may also disclose data to authorities and courts when required by law.
6. Transfers outside the EU
Some of these providers are based in, or have servers in, the United States. In those cases, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified, or on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
7. How long we keep it
While you have an account, we keep your data to provide the service.
If you delete your account, we delete your profile and your content. Shared trips remain available to the other members, without your name.
Reports: up to 6 months after they are resolved.
Usage analytics: 14 months at most.
Android list: until we let you know about the Android launch, or sooner if you ask us to remove you.
Backups: deleted automatically within 30 days.
Anything required by law is kept, restricted, for the applicable limitation periods.
8. Your rights
At any time you can ask us for:
Access: to know what data of yours we process.
Rectification: to correct it (you can edit much of it yourself in your profile).
Erasure: to delete it. You can do it yourself in Profile → Settings → Delete account, or at goyokatravel.com/borrar-cuenta.
Objection and restriction of processing.
Portability: to receive your data in a format you can take with you.
Withdrawal of consent (location, camera, photos) from your phone's settings.
To exercise them, email us at goyokatravel@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account. We will reply within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or with the data protection authority of your country.
9. Minimum age
You must be at least 16 years old to use YOKA. When you create an account, we ask for your date of birth and you confirm that it is real. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, or that the date is false, we will delete it.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords managed by Firebase and restricted database access: each user can only read and change what belongs to them. No system is infallible: if we detect a breach that affects you, we will let you know and report it to the Spanish Data Protection Agency where required.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change anything important, for example if YOKA ever includes advertising, we will tell you in the app before it applies and update the date above.
